Mega Projects Fuel Gujarat’s Progress: Hybrid Energy Park and Solar Park Accelerating Growth

According to government sources, Gujarat is witnessing a green energy boom as well as mega infrastructural projects. Development and sustainability are being spurred throughout the state by milestone projects like the Dholera Solar Park and the Gujarat Hybrid Renewable Energy Park in Kutch.

The Gujarat 30 GW Hybrid Renewable Energy Park

The Gujarat Hybrid Renewable Energy Park, possibly the world’s biggest hybrid wind-solar venture, is being constructed at Khavda–Vighakot in Kutch and is expected to have a 30 gigawatt (GW) capacity. The park is expected to cost around Rs. 1.5 lakh crore. It will provide clean energy to more than 1.8 crore households and lower carbon emissions up to 5 crore tons every year.

When Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the site in June 2025, it was in the company of top developers like Adani Green Energy, NTPC, GIPCL, and GSECL and, walked through the wind and solar projects from the central command center. Adani Green Energy has commissioned 1,000 MW of solar capacity in the first year since the project was launched. The target is to reach full capacity by December 2026–2028.

Powering Gujarat’s Industrial Future with Dholera Solar Park

The Dholera Solar Park in the flagship Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) will be generating 5,000 MW by 2030, and it will be one of India’s biggest solar power regions. Phase 1 (1,000 MW), with one of the first developers being Tata Power, is already underway. The rationale for integrating the solar park with plug-and-play industrial infrastructure is to enable smart-city initiatives in the region and draw foreign investment.

Impact on Strategy and Growth Advantage

Authorities highlight how Gujarat’s huge renewable projects and economic development complement each other:

Scale and energy security: Solar and hybrid parks will be supplemented by Dholera and Kutch industrial parks, which will stabilize the supply to the grid.

Green jobs and investment: The Kutch Park itself is anticipated to generate over 1 lakh jobs owing to developers like AGEL, NTPC, GIPCL, Sarjan, and SECI.

Clean energy diversified portfolio: Gujarat has outpaced other Indian states with its renewable capacity, at around 35,000 MW, including solar, wind, and hybrid schemes.

Pipelines and Storage Facility

Gujarat’s master plan involves the development of another 20 GW hybrid capacity in Banaskantha along with Khavda and Dholera. Meanwhile, battery energy storage systems (BESS) are being deployed in solar parks like Charanka to fight intermittency and provide 24/7 renewable power supply.

Conclusion

With its 5 GW Dholera solar power plant, 30 GW Khavda hybrid park, and pipeline expansion in Kutch and Banaskantha, Gujarat is emerging as a national front-runner in renewable energy and sustainable growth. These high-value projects are central to the state’s green-growth trajectory, as they are riding on strong infrastructure, stable policies, and robust private-public partnerships.
